If everything else is equal, in any given situation, the person with the most confidence will win every time
The day after attending the Masterclass I used some of the straight forward empowering tools at a Departmental meeting. Upon entering I took a power stance and I felt more confident instantly. I spoke my opinion clearly and with a louder tone then usual. I looked everyone straight in the eye and spoke the truth. I felt the meeting was a success. I reflected afterwards that I am competent and confident I just sometimes need reminding.- Dr. Andrea F.
After taking this course, I had the confidence to acknowledge that I felt overwhelmed and to ask for help. I was able to hand off some work to colleagues who were willing to ease my load and this has helped me to achieve the work-life balance I need.- Dr. Marcia C
I’m grateful to have had participated in the Confidence for Professional Women course. The guidance and support of Beth and Debrah allowed me to explore areas of my life and career that I can improve upon as a woman and as a surgeon, and they gave me the tools, confidence and encouragement to make it happen.- Dr. Ashlee D.
I enrolled in the course to help me prepare for a successful transition from trainee to surgeon. The course allowed me to learn new concepts, connect with like-minded individuals at various stages in their career, and grow my network of mentors to help advance my confidence journey. I feel much more confident as a leader now, both inside and outside the operating room! This has translated to improved performance and success in advancing my career.- Dr. Megan D.
Coming out of residency training, I had acquired the skills to be a competent surgeon. But I found what was lacking was the confidence to put these skills to use and move forward in my career... This course taught me that my lack of confidence, not competence, was what was in my way to realizing my full potential!... Since taking it, I have become more confident, sometimes without even realizing it! It helped me to identify priorities in my life and career and set goals that align with them; the framework that I learned for overcoming my fears helped me to be able to achieve some of these goals that had otherwise stalled my career. The support network provided by the group in the Confidence Room is helpful; it is good to hear how others have interpreted the material. The advice provided by Beth and Debrah motivates you and helps move you in the right direction. I feel like my confidence journey is only beginning, but I have come so far already. I couldn’t have done it without the tools and support from this course!- Michelle N.
Leading into this course I wasn’t sure what I was going to make of it. ... Although I have already worked in my field for 13 years, this course has lifted my conversations to another level. ... I was given both physical and mental tools to guide me towards becoming a more confident professional. I appreciated the focused attention and creative approaches of the Co-Founders, Beth and Deb. I was impressed by the warmth, passion and knowledge they ushered. I highly recommend the course.- Ruth M.
Why Confidence for Professional Women
Performance is a function of both competence and confidence.
Traditional teaching methods have focused on competence, assuming that confidence is a natural trait which all professionals possess.
If you are a professional woman who has been wondering why you still struggle and second guess yourself, it is likely not a reflection of your competence. Commonly, this struggle in fully qualified women is due to something which we are never consciously taught in during training or education - how to be confident and lead the team at work. You don’t see yourself as successful and cannot reach your peak performance.
Confidence is NOT a fixed trait
